+1 for not being normal. My 5.0L with 3.73s shifts to 6th at 40mph under light throttle, and my Eco with 3.31s shifted to 6th at 43mph.

I won't let mine shift into 5th before 55mph or 6th until 70mph. Bogs to much and kills mileage. There is more to mileage than rpm's. Engine load plays a large factor as well. Having to give the truck half throttle to force it to downshift to accelerate isn't good on mileage. Probably not as bad with the lower gearing but with these 3.15s you've gotta work the gears or you are going to be in a perpetual bogging situation.

With normal acceleration mine shifts to 6th at 40-41 mph, tuned or not. WOT the tune raises the shift point considerable.

My dads new 2013 platinum Eco 3.73 2wd shifts so so so much better than my 2012 in every way. I am going to get the calibration code from his truck to see if it is compatible with my truck. I mean it shifts great up down empty loaded tow haul slow fast it doesnt matter. I think my shift strategy code must have been written in CHINA!

Truck goes back to the dealer on Monday. They are going to clear the computer and re-flash back to delivery they said, as the truck rolled off the line, they re-load any updates.

We shall see. I think this should fix it, I am hopeful

Mine 2012 will go into 6th as soon as I go into a coast or am at light throttle. I have 3.73s. Mine is doing this at 38-40 mph.I can't stand it. I find myself locking 6th out.

I should add that I have been speaking with Ford Customer Service hotline and they are confirming that this shifting into 6th at this speed is not characteristic and the dealer mis-understood what the Engineering was telling them.

What engineering was telling them that with there test that no transmission repair was needed, NOT that it was normal. They are also confirming that the 2013 models they tested were not correct either.

I'm getting 6th about 45 mph on level road surface. I can't imagine waiting to 60's for 6th gear. Gotta be killing mpg.

So the correct terminology of what they are doing is re-loading the as built data.
