Gotta be a glitch with the tuner, they will get you fixed up.

Or could have had too much voltage drop. Battery may have been low. Had it happen once.

I'm looking to buy the SCT x4 7015 tuner and i found a brand new one on amazon for a really good price. For some reason when i put my specific vehicle model in(2013 F150 FX4 ecoboost) it says it doesn't fit. Is this possible? I thought there was no specific fitment. Also after i buy the tuner am I able to install a custom tune from SSI easily?
Please, please make sure you download SCT's software (Device Updater from their website) and update the firmware before doing anything.
The device will come with 3 canned tunes that you can try out to get used to having a tuned engine - or you can jump straight to custom tunes. Yes, installing tunes is very easy - a couple of button pushes and you will be loading away. A couple of very important things to remember:
1. Have a charged battery in the truck or hook your battery up to a tenderer while tuning. No need to freak out over this, but it is important all the same. I flashed 33 times, never hooked up and never had an issue.
2. NEVER upload a tune for a higher octane than the gas you have in your tank! You can go the other way around... in fact, I recommend running a higher octane gas than the tune you install.
3. When loading a file, turn EVERYTHING off in your truck. I lowered the drivers window and worked everything from outside the truck - that way I could do other things while the file uploads.
4. Save your stock tune file to your computer, just in case. The first time you load a tune, the device will save your stock file. You want to connect your tuner to a laptop or desktop and transfer your stock file to that... for safe keeping.
5. Yes, try different tunes - but if on a budget, go with the tunes that are the best all around. At present, those are the tunes offered by SSi. SSi tunes have the best overall drivability and performance. Given history, there are some that will not buy SSi tunes. I recommend allowing people to feel the way they do (can't change them anyway) while making a smart purchasing choice. The good news is that the community has gone from tearing each other's eyeballs out to generally being very helpful across platforms.
6. Make sure, when custom tuned, you work with your tuner to refine the tune specific to your truck and driving style. These are email tunes - they are not a tuner literally in your truck knowing exactly how it is reacting/performing. Here again, settle on a tuner who is willing to work with you tirelessly until your truck is running how you want it to.
7. ALWAYS return your vehicle to stock before updating the firmware of your device.
Hope this has been helpful!!
Well I got my tuner this afternoon and plugged it up and updated it. I went out to put the canned 87 octane tune on my truck and after it went through and downloaded the factory tune it went through the process of loading the new tune and made it all the way to the end and errored out. Now when I plug the tuner in it says I have to return it to stock and when I click ok to return to stock I instantly get a general error 11060. Now it's Friday evening and after waiting several days to get the tuner I guess I am stuck waiting until Monday when their tech support opens back up to see if we can get this lined out. Not happy.
Have you tried saving your stock file to a hard drive? If not, I would consider giving that a shot and resetting your device following SCTs instructions.
Also, there is a thread on this forum from MPT that talks about this General error. I am not sure if it will solve your problem, but perhaps it will?
Good luck!!

Well I called SCT this morning and within 45 minutes my truck was tuned and working great. I was only able to put a few miles on it at lunch but it feels like a noticeable difference. My commute home is about 45 miles so I will get a better feel for it then.

They had me send them the backup file my tuner made and the guy on the phone said he was sending that plus a bunch of info I had to read off my tuner to the engineering guys. In about 45 minutes he called me back and had me hook my tuner up to my computer and run an update which looked like it updated the firmware and then it worked just fine. So I am guessing they have something on their side that detects my serial number when it tries to connect and update and they had something out there just for my tuner to replace the corrupt tune. When I plugged it back in to my truck it went through the whole process of downloading the stock tune again and then programmed it with the canned 87 octane tune.
