6.2 performance tune impressions
I have had my 2011 Lariat Limited F150 for about 3 weeks now and decided to have LD's Performance see what he could do in way of increased power and throttle response. Not completely unhappy with the performance of my 6.2 or the Ecoboost in our 2011 F150, I longed for more power. I turned the keys to my Lariat Limited over to Larry to see what he could do. So how did it feel after an AFE stage 2 CAI and SCT custom tune?
Well first I had just the Custom tune with stock air box. Although I noticed a significant change in acceleration there still seemed to be a bit of a hesitation and with a taste of increased power I desired more. So back it went and the stage 2 AFE CAI was installed and the custom tune adjusted accordingly.
Wow! What a difference! I was amazed how much better the vehicle performed after the CAI had been installed. Not only does the truck move much quicker but the sound is exhilarating. I drove 27 miles home with the radio off and listened to the sweet sounds of the 6.2 and had a smile on my face the entire way. Talk about a torquey S.O.B. a true monster has been unleashed. The Ecoboost has great power, but even tuned it will never sound like the 6.2. That being said, both are great engines.

Sounds like you have both engines, the 6.2 and the eco. If thats true, did the tune put the performance of the 6.2 past the eco? I have the eco, and a friend of mine has the limited, stock vs stock I am faster, but he is interested in getting an exhaust and tune. I'm just curious if you think this will put him faster than me. All he is worried about is being quicker than the eco, since myself and 3 other friends have the eco and he has the 6.2. Plus I wanna see what that thing can do when unleashed.

It already sounds pretty good stock so Ive been debating on doing it. I also want to do a CAI but havent decided on which one. I know the tune was the best improvement I've made so far, it really wakes the 6.2 up. The low end torque is really improved with the tune as well as overall. I havent went with the 93 tune Ive just been running the 87 and really happy. Hopefully gas will come down a little and make me try it.

The CAI from 5 Star is good. You can take the cover on or off. When I pull my camper I will sometimes put it on as it can be a bit much for long drives.
You definitely get 30 extra HP/torque according to 5 star site using the 93 probably more after the intake. (technically not a CAI as it is breathing engine bay air.
I do love the sound of the intake on the 6.2 I get compliiments at lights. Not as many as I did in the vette with Corsa exhaust.
I hope to get headers and a Corsa cat back by end of summer as corsa still hasn't released their cat back for non raptor trucks.
Overall gotta love the sound of the 6.2.
5 Start is a good bunch of guys.

The ecoboost is much lighter and thus faster off the line. The 6.2 can catch up but takes distance. The tune and CAI makes the 6.2 a monster and on heavy acceleration I was at 7k RPM before I knew it. With the engine screaming on acceleration down the street (0 - 40mph) in a 50 mph zone. I passed three guys who were on the sidewalk and enjoyed their reaction. This truck sound damn mean. I have yet to line them up side by side ( Eco vs 6.2) but drove them both tonight and whereas I couldn't tell which truck was faster before I can say with certainty the 6.2 is now quicker.
Congrats on the mods, it sounds like it runs, and sounds amazing.

Yeah Im like you Im still running stock. Actually just went to the muffler shop today to install a magnaflow and backed out of doing it. Actually the muffler guy (who Ive known for a long time) said I'll do it but if it were mine I would leave it stock. He actually thought I had an aftermarket already and was looking to get something louder after hearing the stock exhaust when pulling in the building.
Looking to order an AFE Monday so we'll see how it turns out.
