He said he didn't want to blow his motor. The only instances I have seen or heard of were bad custom tunes that pushed the extreme limits and a guy running high ethanol gas.
He says he doesn't want to blow his motor thats why he wastes money on 93 when the truck is tuned from factory for 87.
So I stated he might as well get into a 91-93 custom tune as there are many custom tuners making safe tunes for those octane ranges.

It will be cheaper in the long run if your gonna add custom tunes. You can get the x4 or whatever tuner you want from mpt or whoever you choose and custom tunes will come with it. The x4 from mpt is $440 I think and that comes with 3 custom tunes. Or buy the tuner off amazon for 350 or whatever they go for then add custom tunes at $100 a pop. To me that's a no brainer. Tuner off amazon and 1 custom tune= around $450 OR tuner from mpt with 3 custom tunes = $440

You are right about what tunes would keep me safe but technically wrong about stock tune.. ALL ecoboost are designed to run premium fuel, nor they can run off regular. There mpg and hp is based off premium fuel. $8 extra a tank for better fuel is a no brainer to me. I will post my decision and my mpg gains in the next week or 2.. thank you.
Also the book rated HP is on 87. A Ford engineer has said in an article that HP is higher than rated on 93 octane. I think about 20 HP higher. I run only 93 octane now because it runs smoother and better. But mpg isn't different since it is all e10.
The epa mpg is based on no ethanol gas. Good luck finding it.
In my area 93 octane is ¢60 higher so the cost ends up being about $20 tank.

Got the tuner today. OMGWTFBBQ!!!!
I haven't gotten the custom tunes from 5 Star yet but I did load the 91 canned tune. Smile can be seen from space.
Time to change out the plugs and play.
