Rotten egg smell.

Typical of a turbo engine, running rich for some heavier throttle, and then off of it, it will smell like sulphur. I've worked with turbo engines for over 20 years, and it's a byproduct of today's gas and an engine computer sensing a rich condition.
Nothing to worry about. No, your cat is not ruined, No, there is not anything wrong.

Its the cats...not specific to boosted motors, happens all the time when I drive my GFs 13 5.0 STX after shes driven it for a while. Timid/normal driving after a while creates carbon build up in the cats, getting on it hard seems to blow that build up out the exhaust.

I know this is an old post, mainly relating to ecoboost engines, but i have a 2010 4.6 and i have a strange natural gas odor if i run fresh air into the cabin. the smell is also noticeable under the hood. is this the sulfur in the gas burning or the cat or something else. should i look into it more or is this normal?
