Default Riddle me this...is there a difference?

Alright, google has yielded no answers, I can't seem to create an account on their forums to ask either...so, here I am asking you guys.

I have a 2012 F-150 XLT EB SCrew.

Looking around, I see 2 different Superchips Flashpaqs. Numbers 1868 and 1840.

1840 replaced the 1868, that much I know, but I am wondering if there are any differences between the two, and if there is, what is the difference. I feel like that old Tide commercial and saying "I can't see the difference, can YOU see the difference?"

The reason I ask, is I have a line on a 1868 for an measly $100 versus $350 for the 1840.

No difference. The 1868 was/is specific to ecoboost trucks. The 1840 is for F-Series, Raptor, Ranger, Excursion, Expedition, Explorer, Mustang, Mustang GT, Shelby GT500, Mark LT, Blackwood, Navigator, B-Series. All they did was consolidate and try to make one device applicable to more than one vehicle.

Just FYI, do some research on the SuperChips setup that EB folks have versus the SCT that most of us who tune the trucks use. You have so many more options with the SCT and the gains are HUGE.

Obviously you wouldn't be able to get it for only $100 like you are getting the tuner for, but do that research. You get what you pay for.

Yeah here's how you tell the difference, 1) throw both of them into the trash can. 2) buy sct.

Super hips tune is comparable to all others. Folks get all worked up over a different tune e for a couple hp. Just silly. Superchips will be a huge difference over stock. $100 is a steal.

I had the Superchips in my truck at first until I got my torque app and noticed the cat temps shoot up to 1,750F just getting on the highway without even going full throttle one day. I immediately took it off and bought an SCT that had more power and safer numbers. Also, SCT canned tunes have more power than the Superships. Plus the right custom tune to fit your driving style will make you fall in love with your truck all over again every time you drive it.

well, I am not so worried about performance gains, I love my truck!

I am actually hoping to use this for the economy tune and the towing tune. I am not the kind of guy that likes to romp on the skinny pedal a whole lot.

Although, that comment about the cat temp, I am not sure what is considered normal, but how far out of line is 1700 degrees?

Let me put it this way, the same tune from 5 Star that has a lot more power and better shifting would not even get up 1,550F going up the same on ramp with the same acceleration. Also, if fuel economy is your thing 5 Star also makes an economy tune. It is not fun to drive, but if better fuel economy is what you are after then it is the one for you. The Superchips economy tune yielded no better results than my stock mapping.

Mpg will not change much with tuner. It's about power and transmission shifting.
