Default This is VERY odd

So Ford says Redline is 6200 RPM but my dash shows my Redline at 5800 and on most other ecoboosts it doesn't even have any Redline at all!? Please post your ecoboost model, if you have RpM Redline on your dash or not and the your current MPG. Thanks!!

Any thoughts?

I think it's an FX thing since the FX's are the sporty models.

my FX has a 5800 rpm redline... reason why it's so low is cause the turbos are designed for the 3.5 v6 and low torque ability... i personally would rather have a 7000 redline like the 3.7.. it's very possible, but Ford would have to replace the smaller turbos with some larger (less stressed) units and thats not gonna happen

Each model has a slightly diffrent gauge set up. FX Platinum and I think Harleys have a redline. Fx4 redline 5750 to 7000 and 16.5 mpg with 950miles on it so far.

Somebody sooooo needs to transplant 3.7 cams into the EB.

The turbo's are not preventing the rev's.

Why so worried about a red line? The PCM controls the engine speed anyways. You could hold the thing to the floor all day and the engine will only spin as fast the the PCM lets it.
also the reason the 3.5L Ecoboost doesn't rev to 7000 is because the power curve drops significantly after about 5000 RPM. the 3.7 has to rev to make power, the Ecoboost uses forced induction, direct injection and VCT to make it's power down low! That's the beauty of Ecoboost!

Exactly.

I guarantee you that every 2011 EcoBoost will hit the rev limiter at the same RPM's, regardless of what version tachometer is in the dash, and wether or not they have a visual redline on the tach.

Often the PCM's will vary the redline based on conditions. Not sure if the EcoBoost does that or not.

I had a 2000 S2000 with an astronomical 8,800 RPM redline. And it would wind out to those RPM's with zero hesitation... Unless it wasn't fully 3-bars warmed up! then the PCM engaged the rev-limiter early, and it surprised the hell out of you, like hitting a brick wall!

As for your mileage, don't expect optimal mpg's until at least 3,000 miles.

But now I'm curious...

Does the tachometer on a 2011 FX4 differ if you have a 5.0 or 3.5TT? Probably not, and the PCM redline is probably different on the two motors.

Who's got a 5.0 FX4? Check out your visual redline, and if you don't mind, your PCM redline. I'll do the same on my 3.5TT.
