Default Redline on 2011 Ecoboost?

Hey, I've been reading and seeing video posts where people have no redline RPM on their Ecoboost. Mine has a redline at 5500 RPM. I have 2011 FX4 SCREW 4x4 3.73 rear end. I also have VERY POOR MPGs. Im averaging 14.5 MPG...

Any thoughts?

I have the same truck and I'm averaging 17.4 to 18.3 with the 3.73 gears.

Truthfully, I haven't tried. I'll give it a try after work.

I think its because Ford wants you to keep the needle out it. Otherwise they may have to start replacing engines.

Ok, well why is mine the only ecoboost i have ever seen with an actual red line? All others have no red line they just stay blue until 7000 RPMs...

Link to a photo from a MotorTrend article testing a Lariat EB. Shows no redline.
