my motor does have a miss going uphill under cruse or light throttle pressure with no check engine or codes...only seems really noticeable when bellow -10'C outside temp...I have tried covering my intercooler with a cardboard completely in the front and drove for 2 days like that and the miss had dissipated I don't know what to make of it

I use my truck as an escort vehicle...long periods of driving low speed, idling, etc
Mine does the same as yours uphill at about 1,200 rpm in 6th gear.I also have not had a check engine light come on.I took it in for a oil change this past week and told them about the miss. When they told me my truck was done and i paid they told me they ordered a intercooler for it.I think like some others have said in our case it could be the plug gap not being right.

Later Mark.

To the OP,

If there is a problem the engine is supposed to fall flat on it's face as apposed to going out of control. It's better to lose all power then have full power without being able to stop it.

I calmly put the Hazard Lights on (as that is what they are their for, to alert other drivers that your vehicle is in destress) and pulled over to the side of the road. I have had it happen in Tennessee when pulling a tractor and trailer weighing 9,700 lbs up a mountain. I again put the hazard lights on and pulled off to the side of the road.

This is not a Toyota type problem where the vehicle is out of control. It does not accelerate and you lose or maintain speed. Trust me when I tell you that I would love for my $50k+ truck to always be 100% and be problem free.
Exactly...some fail to realize their truck has the potential for the bog, they just have to meet the right conditions for it to occur. I've had to alter my driving habits when entering a highway, especially when towing. If it's damp and mild temps out, I wouldn't even think about giving it gas...

I had it happen to me several times. It's not the major issue folks make it out to be. If you are honestly that worried about it then sell the truck and buy something else. Otherwise quit whining about it.

Majority F150 owners may not be aware of this issue at all (I only came to know it on this site). Bottom line is, if someone ended up in a serious accident and can prove that it is directly linked to the eco engine design flaw, Ford will be held accountable for it.

That's correct. It would probably have to be more than one but a few.

This discussion made me think... When I was 16 and learning to drive with an instructor, they would reach over and turn off the ignition, unannounced, while the student was driving at highway speeds. It was a requirement and we all had it done to us at least once. I always remember that and it helped me be more prepared for the unexpected while driving. Some years back it would not be unusual to have your vehicle die or fall on it's face due to water in the fuel or fuel line freeze-up. Any vehicle, any time. Many times you would need a tow. We've all gotten spoiled with our newer trucks and expect them to never fail. I read quite a few complaints about how the Distance To Empty isn't accurate enough for city driving or frequent short trips, as if we are too good to use the fuel gauge. I wonder is someone would sue Ford if their truck ran out of fuel while trying to pass and caused an accident.

Glad to finally be on a thread with people that arent pissing and moaning about such a truly insignificant problem in the grand scheme of things. I poked fun at those people that keep making comments that the ecoboost is going to get people killed at another thread, and a bunch of butt hurt members jumped on me for it. All i know is, in the even of loss of power, its not this frantic situation people make it out to be.. hazard lights on, move to the side, let the motor reset and go. Glad other people on here seem to understand how to handle a malfunction on the road

There is no doubt that the ecoboost has issues, and it seems to be spread out over various parts of the continent, however, has anyone thought of the fuel there using, with Ethanol being the mainstay today and the phase separation occuring and low octane, and the possible water there putting in there tanks does anyone run ethanol free gas in there ecoboost to see if the shuddering and stalling is due to poor fuel. I know that in my boat engine ethanol robs the engine of power and idles poorly. No matter what fuel treatment I put in the tank. When I chose to due away with ethanol and went back to 89 ethanol free, my engine runs like new and new found power and she purrs and idles like new. I just bought a ecoboost and i am gonna wait and see what kind of performance i get from it and if i start getting the crappy engine feel I am gonna change over to ethanol free and see if the better octane and fuel makes a difference. Just a thought but I never see anyone post about the possibility of the poor fuel at the stations could be the cause.

Haven't been on here in many months. Sorry to see there are recurring ecoboost issues.

IMHO, anytime power adders are added to an otherwise naturally aspirated motor, it introduces additonal points of failure. I'm happy to see the ecoboost motor has held up as good as it has. It seems most folks are happy with their F-150's no matter what motor it has. Ford dominates the truck world in the F-150 class. Glad I moved over to Ford.
