Default Reading oil dip stick

I just changed my oil this past weekend and I'm having trouble finding the oil line on the dip stick when I check it...

Oil is all up the stick when I pull it out so it mask the true oil level.

I don't remember having this issue ever before...on any vehicle. This is only my 2nd oil change on this truck.

I've tried a few techniques to try to get a better reading but it's still vague, especially with the clean oil.

Anyone else have this issue? Any special methods, tips?

Only things I can suggest is to wait 10-15 minutes after shutting down, pull dipstick and wipe it off well before putting back in. Then when you take it out to look, angle it towards the sun so you can see the reflective difference between the fresh oil and the dipstick.

Thanks. I've tried that many times. I'm going to try this morning before starting it up to see if it is better.

Pull the dipstick out, wipe it off, wait 10 minutes then check the oil. My old Chrysler 300m was a pain for this.

I should clarify, don't reinsert the dipstick until the 10 minutes is up. That gives the oil that's in the tube a chance to drop back down into the pan.

Just go check after letting it sit overnight. It is quite easy to read then.
