Default question for northern 5.0 owners

I am looking for some honest answers from people that live in northern states with a 5.0 . I have a 2011 3:73 ecoboost that has been problem free but one thing has irritated me lately, the mpg's. I live in NY with ethanol gas so in the summer I get around 18 mpg combined. Anyhow my mpg dropped to around 15.5 recently and the weather has been between 40 and 50 degrees during the day. I assume the drop is from the temps and probably winter blend fuel. Anyone with a 5.0 in similar conditions see such a drop in mpg's from winter blend fuel when its not even that cold yet? Its around 50 during the day and I am on the same roads every day with cruise on at 72 so that hasn't changed. Thanks

If the 5.0 doesn't get worse mileage in cold weather with winter blend fuel than it's a miracle engine. In the 30+ years that I've been driving in the northeast every vehicle that I've ever owned got worse fuel mileage with winter blend fuel and colder weather. It's not even real cold yet but I've already noticed a slight loss the last couple weeks because of winter blend fuel .

I lose a solid 2 mpg on the crap they call winter blend fuel. Every vehicle I have owned has done this, gas and diesel. I can tell when they switch solely based on mpg.

I'm in NW Indiana with Steel Mills everywhere. We have to use 10% Ethanol blend here.

I've been taking the back roads to work and I'm getting 16.8 mpg in the 30s and 40s. If I take 1/2 expressway (70 to 75) and 1/2 backroads, I get around 17.5 mpg.

Sounds like you're into the boost, eating your mileage away. Maybe something has changed where your Ecoboost is needing to work harder.

Yea, it's some bull**** they pull in some states and because I get below zero temps here we see it too. I noticed about 1-1.5mpg loss. I shall see what happens with the blower.

FYI if there's any Fastrac gas stations near you their 91 is ethanol free. People don't believe me when I tell them my mpg's
