Question - Ford Racing 3.5 Ecoboost Crate Engine
#21
You were warned that your motor might blow? There are many of us with nearly 50k tuned miles. I race my truck and will until it blows or I sell it. All engines have a few lemons.

Joewee - I was warned before I purchased the truck. They suggested I go with the 5.0.
Engineermike - When i called Ford Racing, I asked what size the turbos were, since there are 2 and they didn't know. What's your thoughts on the GT 15 in this application. I hope its better than what I had.

I did ask Ford Racing if the engine would be a direct replacement and bolt right up and work with my existing ecu and they confirmed that it would. But then again, they had no clue that these engines had any issues what so ever!!!. When I searched for information on turbos for a 12, Borg Warner is what would come up. But no size listed. I tried to find all the issues I might encounter with this replacement and it was not existent. If i have to, i could switch the turbos from mine. I guess am the ginnin pig here. And hope everything goes smooth.

Correction - I meant to say short block. I understand the forged internals and what they can do, but will not be tuning the truck again. The ecoboost has some serious issues and would not be putting another one in the truck if not for the ecu and wiring harness. I would switch to the 5.0 if I could. When I was looking at new trucks, I was warmed about the ecoboost issues. But being a need for speed type of guy, I didn't listened. Man I wish I would have.

Ford went with a stronger block and moved the motor motor mounts off the block and onto the lower box. Very Interesting !

Because all of the tunes are safer than the stock file. Anyone running there engine untuned is at risk of blowing. It's true I read it on the internet. Lol
