Default In pursuit of more power and torque Quesitons.

I am now deciding to mod my F150 COYOTE. Currently the way my truck sits I have 5star Livewire tuner and customer 5star tunes, roush cold air intake, roush cat back exhast, 295/60/20 xd matte black rims and nitto terra grapplers, pro comp leveling kit.

My axle code is L6 so after looking it up , it means I have 3.73 electronic locking gear ratio, I do highway driving a lot, should I step up to 4.10 or 4.56 or stay with 3.73 based on people who have done it experience.

Also I was thinking of upgrading to BOSS manifold and Ford Cobra Throttlebody, and American racing long tube headers /catted.. is the price of about 2,100 worth the extra 20 to 30 torque in your opinion, since I do plan on going Pro-Comp 6" lift with coilovers.

From looking at posted times for the Ecoboost, it appears that the 3.55 rear is quicker than the 3.73. Different engine, I know, but it shows that lower gearing isn't always better.

I would stick with what you have the lower the gear ratio the petter the pulling but with the 3.73 you should already be at max towing capability anyway. The lower gearing rear axel will decrease mpg and make the truck slower.

I think that putting on the headers, throttle body and new manifold would totally change the performance of the truck. It would rev higher, sound better and haul moar ***!
Personally... If I had $2000 for mods, that's probably what I'd do.

But he's running a heavy 34" tire. The 3.73 keeps his truck in the power band alot easier than the 3.55 would with that particular tire. Stock tire, maybe not.

I agree with sticking with 3.73 until you decide you want to run a 35-37" tire with a heavy wheel. The lower gear (4.10/.56) will give you torque back and be fun around town but will increase RPM's slightly on the highway and not yield better mpg. Your transmission and drivetrain would benefit from the gear swap though.

Honestly, are the headers that bad? I really don't think they are worth the cost to replace them.

F/I motors benefit more from a higher gearing than N/A.

With the size tire hes running 3.73 will be good for daily driving. 4.10 and 4.56 will give you more low end power but kill your mpg on the highway.

i think you would notice a pretty good difference with all of those mods if you stepped up to a 91/93 performance tune with it.

I've already got from 5star tuning
93 performance tune
91 performance tune
93 tow
89 tow
93 economy
89 economy
all loaded on SCT LIVEWIRE...

I was thinking on down the road supercharger but it would definitely not be a centrifugal for the reason of torque, I have a 05 built mustang with 5.0 running stage 2 procharger when i switched form Saleen series 7 supercharger and meth and it takes about an extra 1000 rpm for the torque to kick in where my twinscrew kicked in at 900rpm... so If i went with a centri on this big *** truck i would have to give it more gas off the line before the boost kicks in it, I think I would definitely go with posi blower instead of Centri. .. I like the the custom Kennebell 2.8's for our truck .. love the WHINE..... These trucks will definitely make more torque with the Kennebell supercharger or Whipple vs the Rouch supercharger.... Though the KB and Whipple are more harsh on our engine b/c of the blade design air is being force more rapidly and with quality of gas we could risk chance of detonation if were not on E85

Everyone has a horsepower level they consider safe. I am thinking with a 6" lift, large/heavy tires and wheels and a 2.8 KB doing its thing you can expect your share of broken parts. Never the less, I hope you enjoy your truck however you wish to do so.
