Default Premium fuel require for max power on EcoBoost and 6.2

Has anyone else noticed that Fords site now reports that the HP and torque ratings are "Achieved with Premium Fuel" for the Eco and 6.2?

This answers the question that they automatically adjust to different fuels, which many of us figured a long time ago.

my guess is they did this because they are detuning the trucks to supposedly help with the condensation issue. By using premium and getting about 10hp/15 ftlbs of torque back Ford can still quote the numbers that they were using before

It has never been a secret or mystery that the ecoboost produced more power on premium. Ford told us that from day one.

Maybe there's a change coming for 2015 and they need to fudge the numbers a bit this year in order to bump them up again next year.

I use 89 which is our mid grade. Never tried the 91

I saw this a couple nights ago. I was going to ask the same question.

The 5.0 is supposed to be the same way, I can't tell any difference...plenty of power all the time regardless of octane ratings

My butt dyno can't tell the difference between ethanol 87 and non-ethanol 93.

That is because ethanol produces more power. Non-ethanol produces better fuel mileage. You might be able to tell a difference with 93 E10.

When the new GM 6.2 hit's the streets with 420hp/460ftlbs I expect Ford to retune the ecoboost to slightly beat those numbers.

Not sure if they will wait until the '15 comes out or do it for the '14. What will be interesting is if they just detuned it to help with the condensation issue, now they are going to crank the power back up higher than before and not expect issues?

Also supposed to be a smaller ecoboost in the '15 lineup. I expect the 3.7 NA to disappear and be replaced by it.

They will probably contract that out to Shawn Ellis. LOL! And have him do the marketing too!
