Post TSB Power Loss Confirmed Via Dyno
#11
Technically, It is really an aftercooler as it cools the air after the turbos. An intercooler cools air before entering the turbos. But most people just call it an intercooler or charge-air-cooler (CAC)

As our PM conversation mentioned, I've had my truck in for numerous reasons-power loss after 13-3-3 is my major concern, and totally ignored. I have sent Ashley another pm about it and will be calling my ford rep tonight, this thread reignites my fire to have this fixed.

I recognize your point but would prefer not to jeopardize my warranty. I cannot afford costly repairs. I have to give FoMoCo an opportunity to repair or fix the issue. It is only fair.
I am hoping others with the same issue are willing to dyno their truck to check. Not all people with the TSB have reported a power loss. I am curious as to why that is. They are all receiving the same flash. It is possible that the intercooler, when replaced, was installed incorrectly.
Does anyone remember if the turbos are before or after the intercooler? i.e. is the intercooler pressurized and could possibly leak boost?

Keepin' the lights on!
That has to be the lowest ecoboost dyno I have seen. Hope you can get some resolution to the issue.
I doubt they will but see if they can reflash with an old file, just for comparisons sake. This happened to 7.4L GM owners back in 97-98. The 1996 file was way better but emissions, more aggressive torque management, and a few other things changed. For those that were updated a change was felt. At that time GM could flash back to an old file ( they weren't supposed too but a few were doing it).
FWIW, my truck actually felt a little better after the CAC TSB (after it re-learned everything). Of course adding an aftermarket tune (SCT in my case) takes it to a whole new level.
Off-topic but, mapleduckslayer-did the SSI tune help your truck?

I pursued that, they will not reinstall old parts or reflash with an old file.

On The Hunt For A Project
The same thing happened with the 6.0L Powerstrokes... Initial dyno's in '03 showed that they all put down about 300-310 HP... But they released new strategies that cut it down to around 240-250 HP in order to cut down on warranty repairs.

Mine is going back after having it a week, it was at the dealer for over a week. Ford has lost all future purchases from my family, as my wife will be looking elsewhere.
If I had the cash I would buy a aftermarket intercooler and call it good, this garbage is getting ridiculous.
I know why it's slower, but my regional customer service rep said its "probably due to the direct injection". Wtf..... Ford engineering- get the damn bean counters on board and get a real fracking fix done because you can't tell me they don't know how to fix it properly.

**** on the Fords TSB's regarding the ecoboost. I got one thing I will have fixed and will wait until the near end of my 36k miles. And that would be for "poor workmanship" on one of my 20" factory wheels. Seems when they sprayed the clear on it they ran out of clear coat. VERY dry and rough and no shine to it at all.
