Yeah I didn't see the sticker that said to use FL2055 until I got back from the store. Did you see the previous post that said to use the FL500S and not the FL2055 ?

I may end up putting an oil filter relocation kit on it like I have on the stang. I hate that it is horizontal and there is really no way to avoid spilling oil when you take it off. Also you can't pre-fill the filter with much oil that way.

Paying and spending all that time on the first oil change?

My salesman scheduled me for a free oil change 4 months out as we were waiting for my truck to be prepped for me to drive off the lot.

Then the dealer sent me a thank you letter with a coupon for a free oil change. Bundled with all that was my registration for a maintenance rewards program that had coupons for two more oil changes. I think I am set until the year 2014 since I drive about 8k a year.

I absolutely hate dealerships. Even if they offered a free oil change I would still do it myself. Don't trust 'em!

Besides I bought my truck in Texas and I live in Arkansas. The dealerships around here are really bad. They act like they have a cornerstone on the market. They would not give me more than 4K off the sticker and on top of that they would not even finance me. I've bought my last 2 vehicles in Texas and that is where I look first when I buy.

I see your point but I have seen myself, friends, and relatives make mistakes on oil changes. Overfill, under fill, throwing out the plug with the oil, not seating filter correctly, not having correct fiilter wrench and crushing new one. This is after 30 years of home oil changes. 20 years of dealer oil changes has never resulted in any additional problems. I did have one independent mess up seating a used oil filter.

The dealers around here are desperate for the oil change business and will do the whole thing for $25 for any type of car. Of course they are going to try to up sell you on needed additional maintenance. But that is business and you get up sold everywhere even at my favorite fast food restaurant. All you have to is say no and the result is somebody has changed your oil cheaper than what you can buy the oil and filter for and no worries about disposal.

I saw a sign on a bus today about 3/4 of teenagers have not tried drugs or alcohol. I think that is about the same % as reputable dealers with service departments that know what they are doing. The other 25% really knocks down the image of teenagers and dealers. The guy that got talked into a transmission flush after 30k is an example of a shady dealer.

This shouldn't happen because you should never need a filter wrench to put on a new filter. Hand tighten only

I agree 100%.
I'll sweat and bust knuckles before letting someone else work on my vehicles.

If anyone finds a remote mount for the filter, please post information on it. The current location sucks, lol.

Never heard of that one before, but I look at the filter and it looks like a normal oil filter. Small, but I guess it doesn't need a huge diesel filter.

I go to Wal-Mart and they are out of 5W30 Motorcraft Syn blend and do not have an FL500S. Then I go to O-Reily's and they don't have the filter either but they do have the oil. The oil is freggin $4.59 a quart! Wal-Mart used to sell this oil in the 5 quart jug for $12.50. Well since they didn't have the filter and the oil was expensive I put it all back on the shelf and head for Autozone.

They guy greets me at the door and asks if he can help me with something so I say yes I'm looking for an FL500S. He heads for the computer and tries to look up my truck...2011 F150 Ecoboost is not even in their system. The filter cross ref book is 3 years old so I know it's not going to be in their either. They do not have the filter either and the oil is the same price as O-Reily's.

Anyway /rant and I guess I'll be heading to the dealer to buy a freakin oil filter.
If you have a Advance Auto Parts store in your area.......just use a purolator..............they make motorcraft filters.........the classic Purolator numbers is L22500

Same experience with Oreilly's so I went to WalMart and got a FRAM XG10575. It is their top of the line filter recommended for synthetic oil and extended drain times along with Mobil 1 5w30. I will go back to the Motocraft next drain when I obtain one, but the Mobil 1 is a keeper.
