I noticed the same thing about my oil after 7500 miles. That, and it is a huge pain in the *** to change the oil in these trucks. I will be putting a remote filter mount on this truck for sure.

Talking to a buddy that used to rebuild engines, he told me that he'd noticed that when taking apart engines, the condition of the engine seemed to be relatable to the oil used (as follows). standard<full synthetic<synthetic blend
Just anecdotal evidence for you. Btw, there was a thread a while back where a guy had put a Fram filter in his 5.4 and I don't remember what the exact mechanical breakdown was, but he included a picture and it was UGLY. Not enough oil to half of the engine. Moderator jumped on and said general consensus has been that using anything but Motorcraft filters in these trucks is at your own risk. Just throwing that in for you guys.

I have heard this too - that Fords are extremely sensitive to what filter is used. It could be an urban legend but the Motorcraft filters are reasonably priced so I see no reason to take chances.
I postulate that using Motorcraft filters with ANY oil that you like (as long as it meets Ford specs and is of the correct viscosity range) will result in a happy engine.

Talked to him again and I guess I'd forgotten the context. He said that a molecular level, the full synthetic is more uniform, and in older engines that may spring leaks, the full synthetic runs right through them. The synthetic blend offered the best compromise of being just a bit thicker and slowing the leak, but also having a higher quality oil. Sorry.

I use Blackstone, and on my 2009 Diesel Jetta the wifey drives I regularly get 15,000+ miles out of every change. Use Shell Rotella T6 5w-40 in it since 1st change. Car doesn't use enough between changes to add any either. 72,000 on it now.
I don't have enough miles on the new F150 XL 5.0 CAMMER yet to be draining it. But I bet that the oil sample at 10,000 miles comes back as good for more.
