Mine is usually fine normal driving, but it shifts very hard when putting it in 4WD Low and E-Locker. I mean like throwing in you back in the seat hard.

I sometimes get a very harsh slam when shifting from D->R or R->D and now I think I have figured out why.
I put a post up about this exact issue a few weeks ago, but it didn't get much attention. My truck does all the above (funky upshifting and downshifting) and loud clunking on gear engagements. I had the truck on a lift, sounds to me like it's coming from the trans/transfer case area and also had an expert listen while it was on the lift and he confirmed it was in the transfer case area. I personally think it's chain slack or a tensioner issue on the chain. Going from D to R and back from R to D preloads that gear, I think we are hearing the slop when it unloads. My dealer initially said my truck was the loudest they ever heard and that I had to bring it in right away. They had the truck three days only to tell me that Ford engineers, who diagnosed the truck over the phone from Michigan, say it suspension preload. This is total BS, I have owned 3 F150's and 1 F250 and they all had suspension preload, I know that noise well and it's aggravating for sure, but this noise is different. I disagreed with their diagnosis and was told "Drive until it breaks."

I also have the latest trans reflash, truck is better but still has mind of its own . It's really bad when I have the A/C on.

Pretty disappointed so far, truck has been in 3 times for 4 different issues in 2500 miles. I am also having the rough, burbling idle and had the sync rebooted at least 5 times. I lose my bluetooth connection on a daily basis and have the latest sync reflash.

My truck is two weeks old and has around 800 miles on her. I have not noticed any hard shifts just normal bumpy type shifts when I'm going very slow. But it has been super smooth so far. My build date was 8_4_11. Truck has been flawless so far knock on wood. The only thing I have had an issue with is the left side of my drivers seat can sometimes seem alittle uncomfortable but I ready think its mostly in my head. I hope my transmission continyes to shift the way it has. I wonder if others with later build dates have been smooth as mine. If mine was dx hifting hard I think I would just deal with till I got around 5000 miles on her in hopes that it would smooth out.

As I started this post, wanted to provide an update. About three weeks ago, I had the idle TSB done on my Eco (TSB applies for build dates before 4/1/11) and since, mine has shifted smooth as silk, about 300 miles now. Mine was built in Jan 2011 in Detroit. Continue to keep my fingers crossed that the adaptive learning will not screw it up cause it now shifts like I would have expected it to all along. Very happy !

I know this doesn't belong, but I've got an 05 with the 5.4 and it also does this. Just trying to relate to the upper crust...

Anybody have any luck with this at all? Old thread I know.

Mine has a harsh 4-3 downshift all the time...clunks into gear. Also feel a clunk when accelerating from a stoplight like there is a lot of play somewhere in the driveline.

These are two issues...as well as the 4x4 not working properly and the misfire issue that I need to get looked at in the next 8k miles before the end of my warranty.

Bingo, that's exactly what I experienced as well.
