Occasional Harsh 5-4 and 4-3 downshift on 2011 Eco
I have an occasional harsh 5-4 and 4-3 downshift. Doesn't happen often but when it does, it is noticable. Seems it does not happen in tow/haul mode. I spoke to a friend that also has an Ecoboost and he said his is doing the same thing. No issues with upshifts, smooth as silk. Anyone else having occasional 5-4 or 4-3 downshift issues?

TSB:
2011 F-150 3.5L ECOBOOST - INTERMITTENT MISCELLANEOUS DTCS FOR UEGO SENSOR / TRANSMISSION
SOME 2011 F-150 VEHICLES EQUIPPED WITH A 3.5L ECOBOOST ENGINE MAY EXHIBIT AN INTERMITTENT MIL LIGHT WITH MISCELLANEOUS HEATED OXYGEN SENSOR BANK 1 OR TRANSMISSION DTCS, A LACK OF POWER COMPLAINT, OR SHIFT QUALITY ISSUES. INSPECT THE ENGINE HARNESS TAKEOUT FOR THE BANK 1 UEGO FOR A CHAFE CAUSED BY THE TRANSMISSION CASTING. IF WIRING CHAFE IS NOTED ON THE ENGINE HARNESS, REPAIR THE HARNESS AS PER ONLINE WIRING DIAGRAM (EVTM) SECTION 5 PAGES 5-8 AND WRAP THE HARNESS WITH CONVOLUTE. IF NO WIRING CHAFE IS PRESENT, PROCEED WITH NORMAL PC/ED OR WSM DIAGNOSTICS FOR THE CODES OR SYMPTOMS PRESENT.

My dealer reprogrammed my truck. They told me there wasn't one available but when I gave it to them to look at the rough shifting they told me they flashed it. It shifts way better, smoother, quicker, firmer, everything you could want. Quite honestly this is what Id imagine a chip doing. It hasn't done the 5-4 or the 1-2 shift bang since the program.

Mine too. I think it is the nature of the beast. For one I have been used to 5 speed transmissions and this new 6 speed take some getting used to. I have wasted enough time at the dealership to this point so I will have them look at the problem on my first oil change.

I am going to ask my dealer to flash mine when I am in next and see if it improves like it has for others. I know with the 5.4s, a flash would make it better for a period of time and then it would seem to revert back to its prior ways.
