Hey Cord, does replacing chain AND tensioner fix the timing chain problem? Reason I ask, is I've read that some boys said rattling noise comes right back after timing chain replacement.
Mine came back a few weeks later and they did not replace the tensioner. Sadly, some have had tensioner replaced and also had the noise return. Whatever the problem is, it's not beeing addressed with just a chain.

Necro my own thread as I'm removing old subscriptions on here.

Traded the truck back in April for a 2021.

Rebuilt engine never was an issue in 8 years.
However, I had the timing chain rattle fix done twice under extended warranty after having timing all replaced when camshaft broke. When I was trading the truck this spring the startup timing rattle was starting to come back again. Part of why I moved to another motor for my new to me truck.

Oil tests every oil change and iron remained high for a while after the rebuild. That is until I switched to full synthetic away from motorcraft blend and iron levels dropped and never went up again. Not sure if that is just coincidence or if the factory oil was providing less protection. Just an observation looking at my old Blackstone reports.

Dealer screwed the plugs in the new head with an impact is my guess. A 2 ft breaker bar wouldn't break the plugs loose so I took to dealer to replace them for me after I did other head to fix some misfiring few years back. Not sure if they actually replaced them since I didn't get the original plugs back as requested. Never had any more misfiring issues.

Didn't do any of the weap holes or catch cans or any of that stuff that was popular on the forum for the first gen Ecoboost. Only major issue over the years was the coolant reservoir leak so used that kit online with the 90 degree hose and it never leaked again.

Thought I previously attached the part list but didn't see it above.
