It's her fault, the cat was looking for a warm place to hang out. Pull out out your man card and blame it on her...lol

Do a little internet reading and you'll find the stretch belt has been used on a number of different vehicles as far back as 2004 and by a few different vehicle manufacturer's. Just making a guess here, but since most of us have heard nothing about these belts, it would seem to suggest that they are probably very reliable. But then again who can plan for a freaking cat.

Per the Ford service manual, all that's needed is a zip tie (at least 3mm wide) and a socket/ratchet to turn the crank. Pretty simple looking but probably not something I want to deal with on the side of the road.

Default Belt tools

I am looking to change the belts on my 2012 F150 4x4 ecoboost, these tools are for assisting in installing "stretch" belts:

Changed the stretch belt on the water pump of my wife's Mercury Mariner. Nothing to it. Cut the old belt off with a pair of dykes. Put the belt on the water pump pulley start the belt on the pulley driven by the cam shaft. Make sure the belt is in all the grooves. tywrap the belt good and tight to the pulley. Turn the crankshaft clockwise until the belt is all the way around the pulley. Cut the tywrap, done.

The water pump on the F150 3.5 is belt driven. On cars with the transverse 3.5 the pump is chain driven.
