The cans are pretty popular with the newer 5.3's with direct injection also. I have an old truck right now, TBI, so obviously doesn't pertain to me lol. I could see how it would help with valve deposits on DI engines maybe. But I dunno.

my automotive engine diagnosis and repair instructor in college was a ford tech for around 30 years, he said they would always have trucks come in for similar issue as the EB, their solution was to take the truck on a back road and open it up for a couple miles.
not just WOT the entire time, but full throttle runs and then letting the truck slow itself down, then back up to around 70mph WOT. my understanding is that it cleaned up most of the buildup and ran great afterword.
