new TSB 13-8-1

The more air flow to the intercooler the better. Fins and flaps in front is Ford treating the symptom, not the cause. The intercooler is collecting water, therefore let's block airflow and slow it's function down. I'd mount my intercooler on the front bumper if it was practical. my BMW's OEM and now Dinan have it mounted right out front behind the front bumper. I can see it when walking up to my car... love it. no water issues. Ford is throwing money at this and the fix is well.. a lot cheaper and easier. Did I mention I live in FL. and have 54k on my 335i, no water issues. Nor is it a issue every mentioned on the BMW forums. My wife drove a MK3 Turbo Supra. No issues. I had a MK2 Turbo swap Supra. No water issues. Ford really missed this one. IMO. With all the TSB's and forum chatter, not one mention of this.

UPDATE!!!!...... N O T H I N G D O N E !!!
About the tunes...IF I tried some different tunes from 5* or other developers and there was no significant improvement... would it be safe to blame the faulty post TSB 13-8-1 strategy... after all...garbage in....garbage out. The faulty strategy is still used as the baseline tune?

I disconnected the 1 inch hose from the passenger side turbo and plugged the intake side opening to verify if the BOV was leaking through. When I went to the driver side I noted that there is a device inline with the hose held in place by two pinch clamps...... any ideas?????

Cracked spark plugs / replace of three ignition coils 2011 F150 w Eco
Hi,
I am fairly new to the Ecoboost Intercooler / cracked spark plug problems (e.g. or becoming aware its a known engineering flaw). This is my fifth F150, and knock on wood have not had any serious issues with any of them and usually sell them at 90K miles or so -- so I am not familiar with TSB etc. Truck has 73K miles on it. The truck is in the shop for the fourth time in 9 months. So far, I have spent about $1,400. Have had three ignition coils replaced and various spark plugs replaced. The first two times I took it to the Ford place, but yesterday I dropped it off with a local reputable mechanic I have used four or five times. Three weeks ago he replaced a spark plug and an ignition coil and checked the other plugs. Yesterday he called me and said two more plugs had cracked. I fish bass tournaments, and its become a fairly dangerous situation of the check engine light coming on when pulling the boat and the computer basically taking control of the throttle and forcing me to stop on the highway -- whether there is a shoulder or not. I have a pheasant hunting trip thats a 8 hour drive in 9 days - and need to figure out the tactical solution and if I should sale this truck. Questions:
Should I have the mechanic regap the plugs ?
Should I have him switch to SP534 plugs?
Should I take the truck to the Ford house, so they can partially block the Intercooler? Is that on Fords bill or my bill?
Based on having so many shudders in this thing in limping home from a tourney, should I sell this thing before I have to replace the Cat converter?

Unfortunately, it's not likely going to be covered by Ford. It's a TSB, not an extension on the warranty. I would replace the plugs with SP534s, and drill the hole in the intercooler.

They now recommend NOT blocking the IC anymore.
It is critical that the spark plugs be tightened to only 11 ft/lbs or the porcelain will crack, causing a miss. My dealer ruined a set for me because they didn't know so tell the mechanic.
I would replace all plugs with SP-534 gapped at. 030. I'm on my 3rd set at 63,000. Towing wears them out every 20-30k.
