Default New ram 1500 V8 cummins diesel = less power than the ecoboost

I was reading this and thinking what a joke. With all the emissions crap and urea injection no thanks. What is going to be the extra cost? Why does it not make 500+lbs/tq? Good luck with that dodge. 250hp/440tq.

Those look like the same numbers that dodge put out for their V10.

I wonder if the 3.7L could handle being a ecoboost. The extra cubes might make up the difference. The eight speed transmission is the other factor to deal with.

Here diesel is 4.11 a gallon vs gas at 3.88. Its going to be a hard sell. Plus it is going to be a expensive option.

meh... it's more than just cubes when it comes to FI. it's a very choreographed medoly of perfectly sized components.

365hp/420ftlb will embarrass 250hp/440ftlb in a race and towing. And with -115 hp and only +1 mpg, no thanks.

Anyway, I think the Ecoboost probably prompted Chrysler to do something different with the 1/2 ton. They've been contemplating diesels in 1/2 tons for years, but it took a twin turbo 6 to finally taunt them into doing it.

Not if the extra two gears are mathematically beneficial.

I'll take my 400/1520 cat over a 650/1200 cummins any day of the week, twice on Sundays. ***** are *****.

No need to add cubes to get 20 ft-lb. One psi boost, a tweak to the cam, a little timing, or a throttle blade that actually opens all the way would get there for much less investment.

You could add 10 extra gears and it still wouldn't give you +115 hp.
