Well, after missing the FedEx guy Friday when he came to my house to deliver my tuner from LMS (people aren't home during the day imagine that?) I decided to have the local FedEx store hold it for me. I save you the story, but I didn't get to go pick it up till Sunday.
First thing I did was load the 87 Tow Tune. I drove home with barely any playing. Not impressed. Monday, I drive around for work so I had a little time to check it out. I'm surprised, but I didn't like the way the Tow tune drove. I used to leave my F150 5.4l with the Edge Evo in tow all the time because I liked the way it drove. This 87 tow tune seemed like power came later in the rpm range and it felt like it hit all at once. I will give it another try soon since I need to use my trailer a few times soon.
Now, I haven't tried the 93 Perf. Tune cause I had 87 in the tank, but.... the 87 Perf. Tune is fun! The truck drives smoother in normal driving compared to the tow tune I thought. During normal operation I only noticed the shifts were firmer and quicker. Not a bad thing, but I really would only want that above 50% throttle input. Not a complaint since I can't compare it.
So, today I finally had some closed roads to try out the tune. I never once got above 2nd gear during hard acceleration because I wanted to try some launches to see how it felt. One word...Impressed. I did a multiple 2WD launches at varying RPMs below 2,000 (above this it would start to power brake). Fun but too much wheel spin and the rear would hop too much after a few feet. BUT... I did just 2 4WD launches to compare and it is WAAAAAY better. I would literally throw my head back into the headrest launching at 2,000-2,400 RPM's at take off.
During the first one I think I peed a little...
Is the 93 v2 Perf. Tune really that much better? Is it worth the extra fuel cost?
Also the first time I got on it with the 87 perf. tune I was on the on-ramp and I was WOT. I chirped 2nd gear. I didn't think that would happen in dry conditions.

Running the 93V2 and will only change it if I pull my trailer. This thing is a blast and I'm having way too much fun !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I only got a chirp in second the first time I drove it with the tune. I don't care, it runs awesome and ran a 13.57 et 100.14 mph so if it don't chirp hitting second I really don't care.

Ordered my Tuner late in the day on 4/8 and it shipped 4/9. Cant wait for it to arrive!!
I had an '06 5.4L with a Gryphon running 87 perf and 87 tow tunes. I saw a nice change with that.....hoping the Livernois tuner on my '12 eco blows that one out of the water w/ the 93 perf tune.
I pull a 20' loaded down enclosed trailer and get around 10-11mpg when pulling it on highways. Hoping to see a difference there with the 93 tow tune as well. Cant friggin wait!

I just filled up with 93 octane on the way home. I was 11 miles from empty so it was a little pricey. I loaded the tune but I haven't had the chance to drive it yet. I look forward to trying it for the first time tomorrow!

Is there much of a difference between the 87 tow and the 93 tow? How would the 87 tow perform with 93 in the tank vs 87? I am wanting to get one of these and trying to figure out my tunes i would get. What tunes are recomended? I usually use 87 but have access to all other octanes in missouri. I do occasionally tow but want performance

The 87 tow tune is a good all around tune if you don't want to be bothered switching them and want to keep fuel costs low. When not towing, I have found no difference in fuel mileage between 87 and premium.

Trip to dealer...flash back to stock?
My bluetooth microphone isn't working. I think the fact that it quit on me at the same time I installed my tune is just a coincidence
Do I need to flash back to stock if I go to the dealer to have him work on the bluetooth? Is it really necessary to disconnect the battery for 10 minutes after flashing back to stock tune?
Thanks
