How's the partial throttle response and overall performance compared to the performance tune?

I ordered my tunes from Rick over the phone Tuesday morning and he said it would ship out that day. I know my credit card has been charged and I am just impatiently waiting for it to arrive on my front door step. I am leaving tomorrow evening for San Antonio and I sure hope it is here before I leave for my first road trip in my new rig. Can't wait (insert kid on Christmas Eve cliche here)

This is not my first programmer/tuner on a truck experience. Although, my best experience has been on my last F-150 a 2005 FX4 5.4L that I modded the heck out of. I started with the Edge Evo and loved it and then the mod bug bit me like a pit bull. Nothing was left untouched on that truck.
Even though it shows I'm new to the site, I was on here in 2005 and stayed a steady contributor through 2010 till I sold that truck. But for some reason I couldn't log back into my old account when I came back....
Anyway My most recently tuned truck was my 5.9l Cummins Dodge (sold last month) with a Smarty Sr. S06 POD . Now that made some silly power. But at what cost? I could feel the truck starving for fuel at some points and the stock tranny was being raped when I was really hard on it. Now I was nice to this truck because the fuel mileage and subsequent increase from the Smarty was outstanding. But I felt like at any moment I would be left stranded. Safe power is a concern for me because these trucks and drive train components are NOT cheap.
Worst experience: 2001 Chevy Z71 5.3 with a Predator Pro by Diablo Sport. I still have this truck. With a recently (summer 2012) rebuilt tranny. I was on the way to Galveston with a customer to play golf and the tranny blew on the way there. Stranded us. I'm pretty sure the Predator put so much line pressure and made the shifts so firm that it cracked the plate between the tranny and the transfer case and leaked out all the tranny fluid going down the road. It cooked from there. Not good. But the truck is rebuilt and like new just sitting rarely driven.

Russ, I think you will love the tunes. I run the 87 Performance tune thru the winter, then switch to an 89 Tow tune in the spring when it is time to start camping. I am also thinking seriously about getting the Full-Race 3" Cat Back exhaust soon.

You're gonna love it !!!!!!!!!!! Be ready for big smiles, excessive wear to the rear tires, and an increased risk for speeding tickets. I also experienced a lot of "slow downs" from my wife, other times she shakens her head and don't say a thing................... Have Fun!!!!!!!!!!

Recently getting DTC of P160a when swapping tunes. Researched and can't get clear definition or reason. If Rick it anyone else can answer or clarify the issue please let me know. It clears it with no problem but then shows up again next time I swap tunes. Truck seems to be running fine. Should I have any concerns. Thanks
