New motor nightmares!
Well as some of might know, i had a piston break up and had to get a new motor.
Aug 12 - went in for diagnosis
Oct-21 - started to install new motor
Oct-31- got my truck back
Nov-2- Blew a intake hose due to loose clamp at throttle body, and blew a
radiator hose towards the back of the motor. Had to get it towed
Nov-3- Got the truck back
Nov-4- Truck didn't make but down my street, all gauges and lights went crazy
and shut down, including power steering. had to get it towed back to
dealership again.
Nov-18 Truck is still in shop and they don't know what the problem is and are
waiting for the Ford hotline to call them back.
I have been in touch with the Chicago rep and have am getting 3 truck payments worth and my rental paid for. But now i am asking for a Buy Back program and a killer price on a new F150. I am still waiting to hear back.

I am on the other end of the scale. I have had very good experience with Ford trucks, so good that I forgot two "bad" instances with Ford. #1 I had a '67 Mustang. On a trip from Omaha to Seattle area I had cooling proplems. Stopped in Spokane and Ford replaced thermostat. Made it to Poulsbo Wa, but car was stil overheating. Went to local Ford and was told head was cracked, and repaiirs would take two days. They gave me a loaner. Next morning, received a call from Ford rep who happened to be visiting the dealer and had seen my 'stang'. He said my motor was trashed due to leaking coolant into cylinder and mixing with oil. It was out of warranty, but because there was a known issue with that series of 289 they were rebuilding my engine at no cost to me and a 90 day warranty. I had to extend my vacation (damn) but a few day. later I was back on the road.
#2 Fast forwared to 2005. I was driving F350 diesel from Austin TX to Poulsbo Wa. towing a 34' 5th wheel. Arrived in Poulsbo and checked in at campground. Unhooked and headed out of camp. I was accelerating hard (Loved the installed Banks Power Pack) and engine shutdown like I had turned the ignition off. After 45 min of roadside diagnosis and lots of good people stopping to help it was still dead on the roadside.
Called local Ford (yeah same one as years before) and they sent out a flatbed. This was mid afternoon on Friday. They told me that repair could not be done til Monday. I was more than a little upset but maintained my temper. I told them my HS renunion was that weekend, and I needed the truck. The diesel mechanic volunteered to stay late to fix the truck and at 9pm delivered my truck to me at the campgound.

Odds are damage at the harness near the ECU or leading to the Alternator is suspect. All power leads need inspected. It is possible a piece of the block hit there. That chunk went out there real good. Good luck Murdr !
