Default NEED HELP: Bad engine knock after CAI install

I have a 3.7l and I installed an Airaid CAI this afternoon. It ran fine for about 20 minutes or so and then it developed a bad engine knock. It is most prominent when the engine under stress at low RPM's( high gear at low speeds). Does anyone know what it could be?

I think you have something loose on the CAI, there should be NO WAY that it would cause engine knock unless you already had an issue. I would A). Tighten everything, and B). Check clearances around the new intake.

agreed. also check and make sure all sensors were plugged back in and you dont have any hanging wires.

+1 This is the most likely problem.

I checked and double checked the connections, I even took the whole thing off and re-installed it. For some reason it's still knocking. I have the battery unplugged right now to reset the PCM. How long does the battery have to be off for it to reset?

not long.

if everything looks good and your still having issues, install the original airbox and see if you still have the issue. if so off to the shop...

I have an '11 3.7, installed the same airaid last year, had the exact same thing. Engine started pinging pretty bad almost immediately. Did all the usual things, reset Ecu, double checked install etc.

Tried a tank of premium on a whim, pinging disappeared. We all know that probably shouldn't be the fix, but I tried it over a few tanks: back to 87, back to 93 etc. I don't have an answer in how to fix it, but I eventually sold the airaid and went back to stock with a "performance" drop in: problem never happened again.

try putting the stock back on (only takes about 5 minutes to swap mine) to see if it still exists.
