My P0016 Error Code Experience!
Well, so far it's not as bad as MustangJim's but I have been without my truck for a week now.
So I take it last Tuesday and they confirm the timing chain and associated parts need to be replaced. I insist they look at replacing the tensioner if they're replacing the timing chain and they say they'll look into it. When I took it in they said I should get it back in one or two days since they had no problem getting the parts.
Thursday comes along and they tell me some plastic piece that is part of one of the valve covers broke and they aren't sure if it was that way when I brought it in or if it broke when they tore it apart to replace the timing chain. To fix it they need to order a new valve cover with no charge to me and it will be shipped overnight and I'll get my truck back Friday.
Friday arrives and about 3:00 it's clear the valve cover isn't going to arrive and I won't be getting my truck back. At this point I insist I get a rental vehicle and they oblige, I guess it's actually part of the extended warranty.
I go to Enterprise and they have a new 2015 F-150 XLT SuperCrew 5.0 and since the rental is being paid for by Ford they upgrade me from a full size and let me have the F-150 at no cost to me. At least now I have a vehicle and I get to check out a new 2015!
Well the plan was to return the rental on Monday and get my truck back but again the part didn't arrive. Who would have thought getting a valve cover for an Ecoboost engine would be so difficult!
So now it's Tuesday, one full week without my truck. The 2015 is nice but being an XLT it's lacking a lot of features my 2011 FX4 has and I don't like the changes they made to the interior climate, window and door controls. Also, once you get used to the backup camera and warning sensors driving one of these trucks with out it takes some getting used too! I thought Ford would have made that standard by now since it's required by 2018. Anyways, at this point I just want my truck back so I can see if it's finally been fixed properly.

Day 8 passes and still no return of my truck! Wow, valve covers for the Ecoboost engine must be rare! At least I still have the 2015 rental to get to and from work!

It's nice you got a 2015 for a rental! I had a Toyota Corolla; now that was an adjustment!!!

The messed up part in all this is that they had everything they needed to do the timing change replacement and have it back to me in 2 days! Whatever broke on the valve cover must have broke when they took it apart and now it's taken over a week to get a new valve cover in. This will be day 10 without my truck for what was a 2 day job originally! I don't blame my local dealer, Ford is the one that can't get them the part.

My service advisor just called me and said the Valve Cover showed up today unexpectedly, I should be able to pick it up today, woo hoo! Brittany thank you for your help, not sure what did it but always good to get your truck back earlier than you were lead to believe the day before! I will be sure to update this thread when I pick it up and test it out on the drive home!
