Default full race or AFE intercooler

I am not sure which intercooler I would like to go with. I do have a stage 2 afe intake and heartthrob exhaust. No tune as of yet, but I would like to change out my intercooler first. Any suggestions?

I'm in the market for a new intercooler too. I'm thinking about the AFE just bc it fits in the factory location. I know a lot of people get the full race if they want to add a winch or do alot of off roading due to its raised position.

I have an aFE and mine seems to heatsoak fairly quickly. My IAT2 temps climb pretty quick and too high for such an expensive aftermarket part. That said, I know others that have one and do not have the same thing happen. Their IAT2 stays much cooler than mine... I have no idea why.

I bought mine because of the plug n play factor as well as the fact there is an integrated weep hole.

If performance is your goal I'd go Wagner with the FR as a close second.

The Wagner intercooler goes right into OEM location as well, plug and play. That's what I have on my truck.

Additionally there were some flow tests done and the Wagner proved superior in those, thread is floating around here somewhere.
Unless I was mounting a winch and needed to use the stock location for that, I'd go with the Wagner.

Can you use the AFE charge tube with the Wagner intercooler?

Dont forget the FR kit has new piping as well. Its a hellavu upgrade just on the cold pipe and connector perspective. And its gigantic and place where its gonna get alot of airflow. Of be curious how the others are with custer service. FR im sure would bend over backwards to make sure you get 100% of what you paid for and more.

I have a full-race intercooler and it's great! Doing a lot of pulls on the highway for datalogging and it only climbed 15* above ambint temps, the intercooler works!
