I have decided to pull the trigger on MPT tunes. Here is my scenerio:
3000-4000 miles per month as a sales call vehicle
tow a 5000lb trailer maybe 10-12 times a year
all winter (Oct-Apr) I have my sled deck in my truck and will carry sleds (total 1400lbs) maybe 10-12 weekends.

Have access to 87,89,91,94 octane fuel
What tunes would you recommend?

87 and 94 performance tunes. That's all you need.

Transmission shift "style", if I had to guess, close to stock.

My guess would be the chill tune refers to the tranny shifting setup and would be a bit softer on the upshift than street, but a little more firm than stock. I have the street setting and it is firm, but not jarring. If I get up on the gas after rolling away from a stop, it will slightly spin the tires and take off like crazy (on the 89) and if I keep my foot on it, it will chirp the tires on the next upshift.

Call or Email Mike, and tell him EXACTLY what you want. You don't need to get one of his pre-named tunes. Mine doesn't have a name, and he said its "almost" a race tune. He will dial it in for power and some extra MPG's if thats what you want.

Yup. I had him get aggressive with the shift strategy on my 87 tune. I like quick and firm shifts.

Ordered me a new tune this morning. Don't know what I'll get exactly. I asked if they could write one for 86 octane since that is regular in my area. Told them I wasn't looking for big power but maybe some better mileage and still be able to tow up to 7k lbs. Can't wait to see what they come up with. I ran 5 star tunes for 10k miles but I'm not happy with the way the truck shifts after being tuned for extended periods. I'll let you know how MPT works for me.

Which 5 star tune were you running? The shifting changes over time? I too plan to tow about 7000 lbs. I'm still on the fence about installing a tuner and which one to install.

Most haven't had this happen, but it probably has more to do with the adaptive trans learning vs the tune. With the 5Star, my shifting hasn't changed.
