Default MPT 91 Perf

Ordered up the 91 performance street tune and have been running it about a week/500 mi. First off, what a difference in driving from stock. Took my anemic truck (3.31's and 33" duractracs) and turned it into exactly what I wanted. I ordered 91 because I'll be driving up to North Dakota every month and all they have is 91. For now i'm running 93 octane in it. I finally got to datalog today. During my 0-80 log I saw a knock range of +2.0/-7.5. During my 3rd gear pulls I saw 0/-8.9. Only performance mods I have are the AEM drop in filter and a welded in Flowmaster Super 44.

Looks like a pretty safe tune. Should still be good with the 91. Looks like a lot of happy MPT folks.

Bojangles: How do you feel about the "street" shifting? Too much, not enough or just right? I was originally wanting to do "street" but several people have suggested that I go with "chill" and that it's still a very noticeable improvement over stock.

----------

I'm looking to do this exact same tune. My problem is mostly everywhere in my area has 92 octane with only a few stations having 93. So I'm kind of stick in between. I assume I'll have to go with a 91 tune and run it on 92/93 (no stations here actually have 91) but I'm hoping this night actually add a bit if a safety net by running the higher octane? Or is my thinking wrong?

I really like the street shifting. You can definitely tell it's much firmer than stock but not overly firm. When you are accelerating normally you can barely tell it's shifting. It's so quick. I love it. I haven't tried my chill shifting tune yet, so no comment on that. After talking to MPT the 91 tune should only be around 10hp short when compared to the 93 tune. I am running 93 and my logs show good safe numbers. A lot of people recommend running a higher octane than what the tune calls for.

My truck has race trans tuning and another truck I have ridden in also had the same tune. Neither felt firm or punchy. So either I am completely used to it, which I doubt, or the trans has learned my grandpa driving style and detuned itself.

Happy as hell with my mpt 93 perf/race, I don't think the race shifting if bad at all.

I prefer the street shifting over the chill, I ran chill for about 1k miles feels like stock for the most part and you really have to stomp the gas to get it to go. I call it lazy shifting compared to street. That's my opinion, everyone's different.

I was thinking of trying the race shifting for my next 93 perf tune. I really like the way the street tune shifts for every day driving though.
