So he had to get in line behind over a dozen other 3.7s that were ALL in for the same knocking and ALL had replacement blocks on order. Unbelievable.

I've always been a big ford guy but this kind of crap is starting to make me reconsider.
This does seem a bit exaggerated - like something my teenager would say. Lol. "Whole bunch. ALL, " etc. I do believe you talked to a guy though... Lol. And yes I'm sure any engine can be prone to a failure, incl the 3.7. If these claims were true, you would literally see a line of 3.7 trucks sitting at the dealer waiting for an engine....

ZX, read post #35. Also, we get it, you and a few others feel the need to boost your confidence about your engine choice via subtle condescension aimed at v8 owners and argumentative cherrypicking. It does make for a good laugh.

this has nothing to do with v8 owners, just the ones who think they know ALL and a WHOLE lot. I read post 35 and added my 2 cents thereafter. For all I know you may be close to the same age as my teenager... Certainly post like it lol. Glad you can laugh at how others respond to you. Very millennial of you... or maybe generation Z? Lol

pot meet kettle. If thats your response to a valid point then you don't even sound like you've reached high school.

Here is my fuelly for my 3.7....

http://www.fuelly.com/car/ford/f-150...efiveoh/373729

I have yet to see under 20 MPG with my highest being 22.3 i think. I have had this thing pretty loaded and it handles it well, i do have overload springs with it as well for those heavy loads and it is no slouch. When it was low at 20 MPG, that was the tank i hauled about 1500# of hay 50 miles going about 80-90 KMPH

My drive is mostly highway (20 miles to work, 20 miles back and about 5 miles in town) with about 20% city. I have yet to do a road trip with it to see what it is really capable of... Doing 80KM / hour i have seen it around 25 MPG on dash readout for short periods of time on a flat stretch. (which is VERY accurate on my truck)

Love this truck.

Oh btw, its a SuperCab 4x4 xlt w 3.7L as stated above.

Although I have a 2wd Regular cab short bed, I have the 5.0 with 3.55 gears. I averaged 25.5 on my last trip at 65-70. Trip before I was towing a small enclosed trailer (3800# with all cargo) and got 19.3 @ 75MPH, and 21.1 @ 68 MPH. All figures with the cruise set. Don't be afraid of the 5.0. I really don't think either V6 with show real life gains.

On edit: I don't get great commute mileage. I have a 1 mile commute with 6 stop signs, 1 red light and 8 turns each way. Coupled to a heavy foot, the MPG's drop significantly. I can easily get 16MPG around town when driving easy. The 5.0 powerband is too fun for that though! That's the only drawback to the 5.0, Temptation....

Its ironic that you accuse me of having an agenda when it sounds more like you do. I'm not the one insinuating that FORD mass produced a v6 gas engine with an exact 100% no-knock/piston slap rate, and that anyone who says its 99.9% is a rumor starter. LOL. Grow up. History proves your claim likely inaccurate so you certainly didn't diminish any point I've made.
Still awaiting some substation of your claims. Pretty weak when you can't back up what you post, and instead come after me. Nice.

I have a 2013 5.0 2WD SCrew 5.5 bed. I'm getting 19.4+ on 91 octane right now. That's sitting at work idling waiting on a parking spot everyday too.

Not exactly a high brow response. What I expected of someone your age. So are you the kettle then?
