High mileage ecoboost low oil pressure warning
Random question. I have a 4x4 2011 ecoboost with 210k. Truck was a one owner grandpa rig when i got it, ive kept it completely stock except for a catch can. It was religiously mantained by its first owner, and ive made sure to continue that. Never more than 5k between oil changes and always motocraft parts and oil when anything needs fixed. Anyway that's my truck, here's my problem. Recently I've had a low oil pressure warning come on only when the truck is in gear and idling, and the rpms drop below 500 - 700 rpm. Has happened after running high rpms through deep snow, and also just stopped at a stop light foot on the break after easy driving around town. It is intermittent, and all I have to do is bump the throttle to get it above 500-700 rpm and the pressure jumps back to normal and the warning goes away. Anyone else having this issue or have a fix?

Here are some non engine or manufacturer specific causes of low oil pressure:
Partially blocked oil pump pickup screen
Worn oil pump
Broken pump relief spring
Worn engine bearings
Failed oil pressure sensor/sending unit
Failing dash gauge/wiring issue
Incorrect oil viscosity
Oil filter (non oem spec)
Based on your post you can probably rule out several of these.
If it was mine, I would confirm/monitor oil pressure with a mechanical gauge and possibly view the oil pressure data with a scan tool. If the oil pressure was actually dropping I would then troubleshoot further.
Tons of info and experience on this board, try searching with some specific terms to narrow results.
