4hrs later and it's done. Piece of advice, put the truck on ramps or a lift. I did it in my garage with just hand tools and a 3/8" impact and no ramps. 2hrs to get the stock piece out, 2hrs to put the new one in. Lining it up to the existing cat back was an absolute mother. This thing sounds great and you can really hear the turbos. From my short test drive its not very loud at all. Ill know more tomorrow. For exhaust I'm running the mak off road y-pipe, stock resonator, and no muffler.
I did that last night. The exhaust sounds really nice. Even on the freeway it's no louder inside than before. The first start of the day though damn. It'll wake the dead. I'm sure once I go WOT it'll get REAL loud. But for every day driving its not to bad. Quite pleasant actually. Ill get pics and vid up this weekend.
One thing I highly recommend is getting rid of the heat shields. That freed up a lot more room, plus you don't have to worry about them rattling on the pipes. Room is at a premium on these trucks. Especially with these big pipes under there.
Mine was much louder in the cab when I did them. Put some miles on them before going wot. Mine sounded like 1000 woopie cushions until I got 500 miles on them lol.
After a few days of driving around with these untuned, I'm convinced they were worth the money. The throttle response is great with these in the low to mid range. I just loaded my 87 performance tune in and it's a real fun truck to drive now. I can't imagine how much fun this thing is with 3.73s. Downside is it sounds like **** at WOT. Around town drivin though it sounds great. I'm very happy with the around town sound of it. But the WOT sound sounds so horrible that I'm gonna have to put a muffler on it to knock it down a peg.
