Magnaflow 12259 - 18" Muffler
Any 5.0 owners with this muffler? Trying to quiet mine down a bit. I'm currently running a dynatech splitflow (14" length) which has a great sound to it around town but its a bit much for hwy IMO. It may have something to do with my exit being dumped over the axle into a 5" tip though.
If you have this muffler, how is your exit setup? Any sound clips? Drone?

i dont and cant spec. answer ur question but i have a 16" borla XR1 and shes a lil on the loud side. I plan to add an MBRP 26" 3" O/D resiantor in front of it to replace the stock one. (i have all 3" pipe w/ 2.5 res welded back in) it help help a bit to mellow it out

well its between the 12259 (18" long) bc a local guy is selling one for $50 or get the 12279 (24" long) new. Really looking to go back stock or damn near close and i think the 24" is what im looking for.

The 24" is the one you will be happy with. It has a nice rumble without being overly loud at WOT and has minimal drone at 1800-2000rpm.
A guy I work with went to get the 24" put on his Chevy 5.3 like I had on my Ford 5.0. They put the 18" on and he complained about how much more drone he had compared mine. He measure the muffler and it was the 18". He went back and the put the 24" on like he asked for the first time and it took care of the overly loud drone problem.
This is how the 24" sounds in my regular cab 5.0 with the windows up:

Here is what mine looks like mounted to the stock tailpipe with 3" pipe added to the front:

I looked it up and the muffler that I have in the pics above is a 12589. It is 22" long oval 3" inlet/outlet center and side offset.
The 12279 is a 24" long oval 3" inlet/outlet center/center offset. That should fit fine.

I actually really prefer the stock muffler and like hearing the engine work. My 2010 has the 4.6 3v and these did not come with resonators so I actually trashed the magna and went with a full raptor exhaust.
Then I found it had a drone to it as well so a local friend/member and I swapped his full stock with my Raptor. Much better
