Looking to pick up more power
#21
I thought you were looking for power? You are not going to pick up much of anything from either an exhaust or intake... like, at all. Dynos have substantiated there is essentially nothing to gain from either of those mods. If you want your engine to sound differently, you are on the right track.
CAC, Downpipe, tune. Those are your power enhancers. The v10 is a dinosaur - it is not even close to contending. There are so many timeslips and Dynos at this point to prove that is true.

O/R downpipes for sure and a catback if you can withstand the horrible sound of a 3.5L V6 (I couldn't). I want to say most people are gaining 2 tenths with just a downpipe. Leave your tune, unless you're desperate to gain a tenth or 2. I personally have the V10 and dont see the need to change for the money. For people to say the V10 is not even a contender is bogus.

Save your cash on the cat back unless you "just have to have one" get the Full Race resonated. Buy a SOLO resonated down pipe(your choice). Delete the OE resonator(restrictive) if keeping stock cat back. Replace the Factory CAC w/ good aftermarket piece.
And from the money you saved from the cat back buy a meth injection kit.

Our downpipe and its success speaks for itself, its found on the fastest trucks in the country at the moment. It combined with a tune is the best power your are going to add to your eco truck. 5 Star Tuning did independent testing of a bunch of catbacks and the stainless works s-tube came out on top as far as power gains. They tested 3in, 3.5in, and 4in and the 3.5in Stainless Works made the best power. The S-tube is awesome since it has zero drone as you can hear in one of the videos. Its a crisp sound with no resonance.
Here are two videos with our catless downpipe and the Stainless Works S-Tube Exhaust.

^^If you run their y-pipe make sure you run aftermarket catback, otherwise you will get some rubbing and buzzing in the upper RPM.

Iv seen in person and on paper what a exaust setup will do on these trucks , how do see me not gaining anything with downpipes? I just wanted to see what's the better option out of all of them. As for the intake iv seen very little gains if any. I don't plan on changing my tuners either just run what I have
The title of "Looking to pick up more power" led me to advise you to look for a different tune. There are FAR MORE powerful tunes on the market. It is not my opinion, it is a FACT substantiated by numerous slips and dyno sheets. At the end of the day, you will go with what you want... it's your truck. Good luck with the mods!

There is a fundamental different between opinion and fact. Fact is an idea or position substantiated by evidence - in this case, time slips and dyno pulls/sheets. The v10 is not in the same league as some other current tunes in terms of performance on equivalent set ups. This is a fact.
An opinion in this case would be a statement regarding the preferred drivability ie. shift points and timing, tip in, etc based on what you like and/or do not like about a given tune.
This thread asked for upgrades in performance, so that is the content of at least my response.

There will definitely be no rubbing, if anything rubs it has been incorrectly installed. The Buzzing in the higher RPMs is an issue that a few people are having(not all), and we are working to a solution with a local truck for those people. We recommend an aftermarket catback as that is the optimal setup for a free flowing exhaust, but they can be run with factory catbacks as many many people have already done. Most all with no issue at all.
