Default 5 star 93 perf/tow

I recently purchased the 93 perf/tow tune for my 2013 5.0 and have noticed that at lower speeds around 30 mph the rpms are much higher (around 1700-1800) then normal does anyone with the same tune notice this overall I like the tune but just worried about my truck running at such high rpms all the time sorry if this has already been discussed just didn't have very much luck finding anything about this.

I have my tunes from 5 star for my 5.0 and I'm very happy so far. I dyno +25hp/+26 ft lb tq over stock with 93 perf/tow overall drivability is much better

That might depend on what gear you are in at that speed and if you are holding it or accelerating. I do not know about 5star's setup, I have a ssi93TS2 performance and it shifts smooth and is very powerful while returning great mpg's at normal to cruising speeds.

If fuel economy is what you're after, you don't want the EgoBoost. They really need to change the name of those TT engines, since it's been shown over and over again that the mileage is horrendous with them, especially when towing.

Default EB vs 5.0

I wont tow anything other than my quad or 2 jet ski's. I will drive mostly city but do take road trips. How good is the economy 87 tune for the 5.0? What real world numbers should I expect? I dont really speed anymore since I need my DL for my job so performance is not a big issue.
Well, FWIW, I say stick with the 5.0. My 5.0 gets the same overall mileage numbers as a co-worker's EB. My FX4 also has 4WD, and the 3.73 diffs vice his 3.31. Under light loads (empty bed, etc.), he gets about 20.5 to my 21.8 on the highway, same speeds (65-70mph, light pedal). However, towing is a whole new animal. He only gets about 15.6 towing a moderately-loaded 4x6 single axle trailer. I, on the other hand, get right at 19.4, towing my 6x12 with the Harley and about 300# of crap used for work. Same speeds. The EB is a great engine when it works like it's supposed to. However, they still haven't worked all the bugs out.
Remember, even though the EB puts out more HP than the 5.0, how soon is it in Turbo mode? The 5.0 will pull longer without strain. The EB will give more power, but at what load? The new EB engines make it even more obvious. The 2.7 EB may give more mileage than the 3.5, but only under ideal conditions. The smaller the engine, the sooner it has to engage the turbo to pull the same load as the 3.5, resulting in a mileage dip.
Just what I've experienced; others may have a different opinion. Hope this helps.

The EB makes more Torque, not HP. Turbos are great to get the load moving and the torque curve is pretty good. The 5.0 has no problem running higher RPMS when towing. That's where it makes power. If I was going to pull more than 7k I would consider the Ecoboost. I have the 5.0 and intend to swap my 3.31 to a 3.73 this coming year (2wd).

Its not an issue other than gas consumption. Sounds like the torque converter is not locking up and that may be by design to give the tune a more "powerful" feel which technically you are making more power with more RPM. HOWEVER, is your tune making the torque down low where the truck needs it? I would bet a paycheck and a dyno that it is not. I can tell you for a fact that my Tuned 5.0 w/ 3.31 pulls my buddies MPT tuned 5.0 with 3.73 every single time. Other than gears we are identically configured with regards to factory setup and OEM size 20s. And on the hwy, he is sucking tail lights he can't gain no matter what speed we are running. His main comment though is about the way the transmission shifts, both under normal driving and when driving aggressively. On Sunday he said "I can't believe how quick and sharp it shifts without banging into gear every damn time! I feel like I'm gonna break something when I get on it in mine!!
I'll PM you a link.
