I feel your pain. I don't worry much about cars because I have nerf bars on my truck and have them out as far as they will go. Trucks and SUV's are another problem. Just try to park way out were most people are to lazy to walk from, that is my solution and works fairly well.

didnt somebody already make an alarm proximity system using robocops voice , telling people to step away from the vehicle, you have ten seconds to comply, then the alarm goes off.
couldnt somebody build on a module that senses a dent or touch like door dingy and take a picture in the direction of the offender?

It doesn't help the matter when parking lots are laid out for cars the size of a Honda Civic. I have to park out in the sticks in order to pull in or out without jockeying the truck.
