You could also attach a plunger switch to the inside of the gas door and wire in to the alarm.

You hit nail on head, it is just added security to keep anyone from putting something in my tank. Some people may not be concerned about this but thats ok. I like having the locking gas cap. It is more of a locking plug. I dont see inconvenience. Wouldnt need it if Ford would have just added the locking door but i guess that would be too much to ask to put on a $55k truck.

The fuel filler set up has nothing to do with the Ecoboost engine. It's on every F150 regardless of engine package.

Unless they break into your truck to get the special funnel under the backseat, they are not pouring anything in your tank either. Was cycling gasoline out of the five gallon tank I use to fill my riding mower, and it just poured on the ground. Found out why after learning about the white funnel thing.

sullyman, i understand there might not be this need, but either having a locking tank lid (open from inside vehicle) or a locking gas cap, I just felt naked. This little locking plug is so easy to put in and remove that to me its not a hassle and it just gives me piece of mind that my fuel supply is alittle more protected from the few loonies in the world.

Just picked one up this morning from dealer and it is simple and slides in to the hole and locks. This gives me piece of mind that nobody can mess with my truck gas tank (marginal thief) true thiefs will find a way to pry off but just to have a safety barrier is nice. My truck sits in my driveway not garage, I can sleep better now and if at parking lot it will deter the in/out thief. Plus with ethanol being a moisture grabbing fuel having an additional layer to block air is good. Just thought I would put out there but I am sure in these 1400 threads there is one about this!!
Under the back seat is a funnel that you need to use. Even a gas can spout won't open the trap door. Honestly, I don't see how somebody could siphon gas.

I wasnt as concerned about siphoning gas, others said the thieves today just punch a hole in tank and drain. I wanted protection from anything being put in tank. I had owner reward points and the locking plug didnt cost me anything so i put it on. I guess this is just a custom item like everything else we add to our trucks, personal preference. Its on and now I am happier.

There is no reason for a locking gas cap. I posted a link to the design and pictures of how the filler neck is designed the other day. You can't siphon or pour anything in there unless certains things happen. I am sure there is a way to find the thread I posted which will explain it all and give back confidence it is a good design. Hope this helps.

Locks only keep honest thieves out...

That being said I don't think I'd want to live where you are!

Yup you can pour something in there easily it just to have a neck the same diameter as the spout. When I lost my spout I had a little funnel that would allow me to pour in there. Took all of about 2 minutes to figure that out.
