Default Livernois vs 5Star

Ok, i have read all 359 pages ( lol seems like that many anyway!) on these two tuners and used the search function...Still, can not decide on which to go with,,Has anyone here used both and can share experience? I like reviews of Livernois, but dont like having to download a new tune and then load it each time, whereas the 5Star holds 3 tunes...I will be using my truck as a daily driver, occasionally towing my 6500lb camper...I dont mind retuning if need be to obtain good fuel mileage daily, and towing capacity occasionally...im just trying to make this decision and pull the trigger on one or the other...I am not goin to be racing it, but we all like performance occasionally.. ( if i have overlooked any other tuner please chime in.) thanks in advance

The livernois can hold 4 tunes plus you have access to 8 tunes and Rick has top notch customer service!! All his tunes run great

I have not driven a livernois tuned truck, but my take on it is this:

- All out performance winner is livernois.
- Many people rave about the part-throttle response and driving of 5 Star, leading me to believe it's better in that area.

That said, if I did it over, I'd probably go with livernois.

I've towed my rzr 900 with an open trailer pretty heavy trailer for what it was! I don't know the weights but honestly couldn't tell it was back there with the 87 tow

Unfortunately I don't have any experience with either. I bought 5* but waiting for my truck to show up.

AnywayI think I also have read my fair share of pages on these tuners before making my decision and here is my perception of the two tuners based on all that.

For me I think the main differences are Livernois is more of an all out power tuner and would probably win in a race so to speak. I know Livernois released a towing video but no offense to them but a truck going full throttle on-ramps or accelerating in flat ground Michigan is not enough proof for me, I'd like to see heavy loads pulled long distances and sustained climbs. I know some people have had great success towing with livernois.

Whereas the Mike at 5* seems more about all around drivability and he is a bit more focused on tuning for the people that work their trucks harder i.e. heavy or all around towing. Honestly I don't think you could go wrong with either they both have great reputations.

I personally chose 5* a because of the price and options(he was running special at the time and livernois didn't have multi-tune capability yet). But more so because in the summer and winter I am towing nearly every weekend and Mike at 5* seems more focused on making the best and safest possible tune for that.

I have towed with the Livernois 93 Tow Tune and love it. I have towed a tad bit over the recommended rating of the truck which is 11,300lbs and not had a single problem.

Obviously not fair to compare the 2 tunes but still had fun. My chum is going to get the 93 tune from 5 star and wants a rematch!
