I love the 3.7 but for some reason I am getting worse gas mileage now then when I first bought the truck ( 11k was on it). I drove from San Antonio to Austin in back a few months ago and cruised at 70 and got 22.5. I did the same trip and got 19.8 and the only differents was the temp out side.

Wolf, I had the same deal on a trip to Fla. Down to Fla. it was 23 mpg at 70. It was a beautiful clear day, with no winds. But on the trip back it was quite different. With headwinds, and strong crosswinds I only averaged 20 mpg. Could it have been a headwind on your return trip?

.....

I have hauled light to moderate loads with no problem. Will be pulling an enclosed trailer on my next trip. These days the remaining midsize trucks on the market don't compare to the F150 3.7.

.....
I agree with both points. My F150 gets much closer to it's rated mileage than any truck I have owned so far.

I have also pulled my 10' tall, 8'wide 3800# TT, and it was a breeze. Not an easy to tow trailer, but it held 65mph in 5th, or 4th gear for 70 mph. Nice!

Agree with above poster, the midsize trucks( Colorado, Frontier, Tacoma) do not come close in room, and driving comfort, and they don't get any better mileage. I had a 2005 Colorado Crew 5cyl, after a couple years, I could not take the rough ride and poor mpg.(22mpg best highway). Got a 2008 Frontier Ext. Cab SE-V6, nice truck, had a better ride, but was a gas hog and had some nagging problems. My son has a 05 Taco Access cab with a 2.7 I4. Best highway mpg has been 22 and the road noise is bad even with street tires.
Agree with this as well, I had 2 Tacomas, and this F150 gets mileage comparable to the 4X4 4 Cyl, much much better than the V6 4X4 Taco. Quieter, more luxurious, nothing worse, other than maybe parking sopt size requirements!

You want a wicked sounding deep throaty rumbling beast? Get the Rousch intake. Worth every penny, and it is the Goldilocks intake, not too loud, not too quiet.

Mine's a SCAB 4X4 3.7 - Anyone with an open enough mind to drive it, who doesn't tow more than 5000#, would love it. 302hp is 302 hp. And with 6 speeds, there's no waiting.

I love the gas mileage, but wish I has opted for the 5.0 so that I could get a good sounding exhaust

I absolutely love my 3.7. Mileage in the city sucks but that's because I don't drive like I want good mpg. I get 15 at best. I usually mash the pedal halfway. Right now because of winter I'm getting 12 to 13 mpg. Highway I can easily get 24 mpg. I have gotten 26 mpg but I had the cruise set at 80 km/h which is about 45 to 50 mph. I have a supercab 4x4 3.73.

Power is more than decent unloaded. You would never guess it was an N/A V6 under the hood if you took it for a spin. The only time I'm reminded I have a V6 is when going uphill. The lack of torque shows. I will be towing 5500 pounds this spring so I will write a review then.

Today I installed a roush intake. The sound is amazing! Very loud, I did not expect the engine to get that much louder after install. Nice throaty deep tone under normal acceleration, screams at WOT. I felt a slight increase in torque and throttle response. It's not as sluggish off the line. I'll be getting a tune next month so hopefully the gains are more noticable.

It could be a possibility but I feel like my city driving has gone down to but who knows it could just be me

I know of what you speak about city mileage. If I just drive and not use reason, my mileage will drop like a rock. I guess it's the 3.73 gears. Oh well, what the heck. It's a great truck, best I've ever have. Great cruiser at speed, and as comfortable as my old recliner. I'll keep it until I can talk the Wife into letting me get a new Platinum.

I am a little surprised you find the intake loud. But it sure sounds amazing doesn't it? I've never had an intake that sounded so good, and without any of that annoying intake honk or droning.
Absolutely no need for any exhaust mods when it sounds so good. I really liked the extra bottom end torque, makes everyday driving a little more effortless.

If you want to up your city mileage, avoid using the brake pedal (within reason of course), remember when you are coasting the fuel is shut off.
