I told the salesman it needed a tume up, plugs and boots. They took to there mechanic and told him plugs and wires. It obviously doesn't have wires so they didn't do the boots. Idiots lol

I suppose that would be correct. I'm not 100% sure how much gas it had left exactly but it wasn't much. I was so tired from the loan and buying the truck. Even with e85 14.6 seems a bit low for hwy only. I would guess more around 17 to 18. It was 40 miles one way so it would be 80 miles there and back. Sorry i forgot to add that part. I reset there and on way back.

The 3.7L hasn't had misfire issues as long as he used dielectric U are good to go usually.

My step brother has been a mechanic at shawnee mission ford for 20 years but i have burnt him out with questions so I'm trying to give him a break lol. He checked it out top to bottom and said it hadn't had a tune up at all and its at 111k. It got new plugs but thats it. He said the boots won't make a difference because its not missing.

Usually wholesale replacement with new parts causes more issues than not. A waste of good money unless there was a code or mechanical problem to start with.

It has great power and can easily do 22.5 - 23 MPG on the highway. I've done a couple thousand miles on the highway for road trips and the MPG is what they claim even with the SCREW and 3.73 gears at 65-70 MPH.
The city is another story. I have to struggle to get 17. If I drive 'normally' without mashing the gas pedal I'm at about 14.5 - 15. That said MPG isn't a deal breaker for me and neither is the money. It gets the job done nicely, less parts to break, 2 less plugs, and plenty of room to do engine work, etc.
I have hauled light to moderate loads with no problem. Will be pulling an enclosed trailer on my next trip. These days the remaining midsize trucks on the market don't compare to the F150 3.7.
My main gripe is SCREW 3.7 cannot be bought with 4wd.

Idk what to do, its really starting to worry me. Surely replacement plugs isn't goimg to cause it to get that horrible mpg. When my brother drove it along with another guy at ford they both said it was the most gutless f150 they had driven and this was before the plugs were done.

The 3.7 certainly isn't gutless. Do a compression test. Then I would look at the air intake/ maf if compression is good. If lubrication caused a stretched timing chain code should appear for that area. Also exhaust damage could be easily looked for by a visual. The 3.7 deffinately is a spirited vehicle when right. Take out the air filter an make sure the gotts mod like feature lets fist thru without a plastic bag ore something partially clogging it.
