Late 2014 5.0, is this ticking normal?
2014 F150 5.0 ticking at idle:
Bought a new '14 F-150 w/ 5.0 about 2 weeks ago. The build date is 11-12-14, so I'd think all the bugs would've been worked out on such a recently built truck. Truck runs great, super smooth except there's this ticking sound at idle that seems to happen once truck is warmed up. It really does sound like a tick and not a knock like I've seen in some other videos on YouTube. It's done it since day 1, it now has 1200 miles on it.
Is this a normal sound for the 5.0? It's really not bad and I could definitely live with it with no problem, as long as it's just a truly normal characteristic of the engine (not dealer "normal").

Eco-5.0-Eco again
Some say it's normal some say it's not...mine does the same thing. It doesn't sound like yours is too loud but there are others that have a LOUD tick. Mine is like yours so I'm not worrying about it. There's a couple threads on here...some have developed a knock at higher mileage, mine seems to have quieted down. Some of the tick has to do with the variable timing from what I'm told...It also seems like the tick is more prominent during hot weather (thinning oil I guess).

NOT normal. Mine is doing the same thing. Just dropped off at dealership. 2011 f150 5.0 57,000 miles almost out of warranty. Listen to the last few minutes of my video.
