Anyone swap out the factory air filter for a K and N?? What results are you getting?

Your new but next time please search before you post. There are tons of threads on this.

I would avoid the k&n and go with an aem dry filter.

I will go the other way on this..I really like my KN setup..I got the complete CAI setup..I wanted more flow but also wanted to get rid of the bellows air pipes on the OEM stuff(turbulance)..I have more air flow easier, air flow sound(minimum), cleaneable filter element. I have done OA on all oil changes since new..

If it allows so much more dirt..then why am i maintaining a 4ppm silicon level on my 10000 mile oil change interval?

Thats ok..the na sayers said the same on the 7.3s..and guess what I had a 5ppm silicon level on 12000 OCI...

Now for the people that over maintain the filter element and distrub the element or dont install it correctly, or dont have a good seal on the pipes and clamps..then yes it will pass dirt..

I would also recomend a OA after the install of any CAI..to determine its sealing capabilities long term...of course that goes without saying that OA is a vital part of vehicle maintence...

Hope this helps...

I don't think your gona notice a difference. It sounds different and maybe seemed like it had a little less turbo lag. Could be my imagination, I bought it because I needed a new air filter and run k&n in everything.

It doesn't give you anything but sound unless you get a custom tune with it. Additionally, if you over oil it, you will jack up your MAF.

I was just reviewing my OA, and I saw I had a 2ppm Silicon contamination with my KN...

Theres no way I would turn up the turbos(tune) without supplying them more air and reduce the back pressure..

Just my opinion..
