Wink Just got a new SCT X4 from MPT

Just got my new SCT X4 Tuner in the mail. I ordered it from MPT. Does anyone have any recommendations on what to get for my 3 custom tunes?

Truck is all stock atm minus stock K&N filter replacement.

Thanks for your help!

I just got there 87 Performance Street tune yesterday and it's a huge difference. I you want to run 93 get there 93 Performance Street tune and for the other id go with with there 87 Tow.

Thanks for the reply! Do you have opinion on the Economy tunes?

I do. From the postings, almost no one likes them. A gently driven performance tune is so much better.

Wanted to post an update for anyone who may be following this thread. I called MPT to ask a couple questions regarding their tunes.

With the Performance Tunes - If you pick Street or Race for the trans - When you hit the Tow/Haul button - it changes the shifting to Chill. This not the case with the Towing tune. The towing tune goes to stock shifting values when pressed.

I ended up choosing a 93 perf, 87 perf and 87 Tow. Street/Street/Chill. Will write up a review once I have tried them.

So far MTPs customer service is top notch. Fast shipping, and great customer service.

I am just curious as to why they offer an 87 tow tune. I thought I read somewhere that ford strongly recommends 91 or higher for towing with the eboost. Maybe MPT has this figured into the 87 tow to make is safer, any rate I was just curious.

Just because you have a tow tune rated to use 87 octane, doesn't mean that you use 87 octane to tow. Stick with Ford's recommended premium fuel for towing. The 87 tunes are just the most conservative and the 87 rating just indicates the lowest octane that you can run with. I tow with an 87 tune and run 91/93 octane fuel, but will get a 91 octane tow tune now for a little extra power. Personally, I think it is risky to run a 93 tow tune as it seems too close to the edge. A 91 tune with 93 fuel just seems safer to me with less boost and timing than a 93 tow tune.
