Default Interesting Ecoboost hp disclaimer

On the 2014 Explorer as that keeps showing up on every page of this forum for me, there is a disclaimer at the bottom. If you hover your mouse over the disclaimer, don't click, just hover, it had a disclaimer that says:

"Horsepower figure achieved with premium unleaded gasoline."

I find that curious Ford would advertise horsepower numbers using premium on the Explorer, where most people will use regular.

Wondering what the horsepower rating is on regular, and if the Ecoboost in the F150 is advertised the same way?

All the ecoboost ads I've seen said it was tested on 87. But this may have changed with 2013s. I haven't noticed.

It was published that the Eco gets better hp on premium much like the 5.0 so maybe this is simply marketing.

Seems a little underhanded to advertise hp based on premium, but it won't be much higher then that produced on regular.

I wonder if other manufacturers do this?

i remember in my manual somewhere under fueling it says something along the lines of the truck will run on 87 but performance increase will be given with higher octane fuels. or something along the lines of that.

That sounds right...

My wife's Infiniti is rated the same. Peak power is with 93 octane...
