It may over time cause damage to the turbine, but it should not cause a catastrophic failure. More of an erosion effect.

The raw fuel can ultimately cause a clogged cat yes. Fuel is not going to cause a blown turbo directly though. Indirectly by clogging the cat, the backpressure built up can blow the seals, so in that regard it can.

I've built cars with 100+mm turbos running so much damn fuel through them, you could drain the 15 gallon fuel cell in a couple of 1/4 mile passes. Plenty of fuel going through there and plenty of ignition problems arise with those too and while they certainly don't have cats, they do have raw fuel going through them at times and never blew a turbo as a result.

Talked to dealership today and they think the timing chain might be stretched. Could the timing chain jumping cause this issue? What's crazy they just replaced it about 20k miles ago.

Dealership told me today that right turbo is bad and needs replaced. They finally got code dtc 0299 underboost. They couldn't tell me what caused it or if I replaced it wouldn't happen again, but since I'm paying $1820 plus tax they don't care. What should I ask before having it replaced? Why would one turbo fail and not the other?

Every time I get a flat tire, I ask "Why didn't the others go flat too?"

Cat issue not usually sudden unless defective, smoke Black =fuel ,blue/white=oil,and white =antifreeze and all smell like what they are .A bad turbo fail can push oil out the exhaust and into the intercooler ,should have heard a bang and then the power drop and lots of smoke out of the exhaust .
