Default Remote?

Talked to my dealer today and asked him about installing the factory remote start system on my new truck before taking delivery this weekend. He said the parts were around $240 plus 2-3 hours labor.

Sounded kind of steep to me so I passed on it for now. Anyone here installed this yourself, and if so is does it really take 2-3 hours to install.

I really want the factory system as I don't feel like carrying another key fob with me.

The waiting game is killing me.

I don't know exactly how it works if you custom order one but it sounds like if you haven't taken delivery yet then you can still back out. So it seems to me like you have some leverage. I would tell them you found a better truck for a better price you are going to look at. They might be willing to put it in then.

That's way too much I was charged $50 to install mine and it only took 30 minutes. It sounds like they are trying to screw you because all they have to do is look up the part number in a book and it tells them how long the install takes.

I bought an OEM remoter starter with 2 keys on ebay for 200 including shipping and installation instruction. I was surprise to see how easy it is to install... no more than 5 minutes including reading the instruction. It's just a antenna that you connect to the TPM module on the passenger side. Have that I program both keys by myself with the included instruction. and went to the dealer to have it switch the computer on, a 10 minutes job at the dealer and cost 15$. So 200$+ 15$ +10 (for key cutting)=225 for the OEM remote starter.
