Thanks!

Steve
My 2 cents...I just installed 5 stars' 91 octane tune and the AFE intake on monday and I asked him to set my shift points around 6200-6300rpm.The truck is a rocket now...well,let's just say under the initial run that it pegged the speedometer before I realized it.Firmer shifts, improved part throttle, and a strong WOT holeshot. And,If you can practice self-control,you get 1-2mpg improvement. Also, like said,Mike is a good guy to work/chat with, and highly experienced tuner.Recommended.Good luck.

My Question: How do I safely change from one tune to another and how often...

I.e. If I am running 89 octane and want to run 93 octane, Do I run 89 down in tank and refill up with 93 or add 93 to 89 tank then make tune change?

While in 93 octane want to run economizer tune when and how do I successfully change safely?

First tuner so not real knowledgable on it yet

Thanks in advance for useful help.
When going from a high octane to a lower octane just change the tune before you fill up and you'll be fine. When going from a lower octane to a higher octane fuel change the tune after you have filled up.

Higher octane fuel burns slower so it can handle more timing so if you have a economy tune in the truck with higher octane you lose a little power but no harm done. If you have a low octane fuel in the truck and go to a 93 octane tune it has more timing and will cause knock (detonation) and hurt the engine. So it's best to run the low octane fuel out, fill up with the higher octane and run it a mile or two to make sure you use up whatever 87 was in the fuel system before changing to a 93 octane tune.

As for changing the tune you can change it as often as you want it won't hurt anything as long as you follow the above.

Thanks. Appreciate the advice. Hate the wait for truck to get back to install these tunes and other goodies.
